How to Add Support Rights

Smarsh Central > Support Rights

    ATTENTIONYou will need admin support rights to complete this process.  If you are not a Central Admin please contact someone within your organization to complete these steps. 

    NOTE: Creating or adding a Support Rights Contact does not create an account that the user can sign into, see 'Additional Information' at the bottom of this article for more details.

     

    STEPS

    1. Log in to Central and locate support rights.  
      1. See steps for How and where to Locate Support Rights within central. 
      2. Once within support rights move to step 2. 
    2. Select the button Add New User at the top right of the Support Rights page
       
    3. A window showing two selectable options to Search for an Existing Contact, and Create New Contact will be displayed. 
      1. NOTE:  By default Select Existing Contact will be open.  It is important to use an existing contact instead of creating a new one.  Creating a duplicate contact can cause issues with the users account which will require a support ticket to resolve.  
      2. You can select the text for either option depending on your situation to open other context menus. 

     

    1. Search for an Existing Contact.
      1. Click in the Search bar and type the FIRST and LAST name of the user you are attempting to add. 
      2. If the contact exists, it will be displayed for you to select.   
        1. Select the contact name and move on to STEP 5 (Adding Support Rights)
      3. If the contact does not exist, no results will be displayed.

        2. If you get no results, you will select the text option to Create New Contact instead.

        3. Enter the First Name, Last Name and Email address of the new contact.  
        4. Move on to Step 5 

     

    1. Adding Support Rights.
      1. Select the support rights you wish to grant the user.  
        1. If you are not sure, see: Which permissions do Support Rights grant? 

     

    1. Click Create
    2. Your support rights user is now created and can be seen displayed at the bottom of your Support Rights window.

      • Granting Support Rights will NOT create a login for central.smarsh.com or app.smarsh.com. This will need to be managed by a Smarsh System Admin via app.smarsh.com.
        Options for user creation for Smarsh Central Only, or Smarsh Central and Profession Archive access are in the article below.
        -New Support Rights Contact Cannot Login to Smarsh Central
      • If you do not have access to app.smarsh.com and are a Smarsh Central Only customer, please open a support case and note the Support Rights user that needs a Smarsh Central Only login created.
